Inhabit & Defend This Home

As long as I can remember we never lived in a house that had not had blessed. Since Mom moved I have felt strong that we have her house blessed. A house blessing is a way of blessing our homes and dedicating them to God and His purposes. To me, you never know who lived in the house before or what their beliefs were. Even a new house has lots of people coming in and out. We wanted God blessing and His protection over Mom and her home.

Pastor Barry anointed the front and back doors with oil, making a cross in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.. We claimed these passageways and anything that enters in or out in the name of Jesus. This is ordinary olive oil that has been prayed over and is a symbol of our faith in God's holiness. He asked God to inhabit and defend Mom's place. We claimed scripture over this home. Joshua 24: 15, "...as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." Pastor Barry prayed, in the name of Jesus, to rebuke any spirits, not of God, to flee and asked the Holy Spirit to fill her home, protect it and bless it!

Mom was reminded that some time we serve the Lord by staying where we are and soaking in His presence. When she is there she is to remember she is in the presence of almighty God and have confidence that He has her in the palm of His hand. As she sleeps He is watching over her. God's hand has been all over her life so why would He stop now?! John 14: 1, "Do not let your hearts be troubled." Pastor Barry ended with a beautiful prayer that Mom, our family and her visitors will grow in grace and knowledge of Jesus and learn to live in His peace that surpasses all understanding.
