Lead Us Not Into Temptation

I can still taste my grandmother's homemade biscuits. Biscuits continue to be a temptation for me and if I think about them, I crave them. "When temptation knocks, imagination usually answers." If I think about them I can imagine how good they are. That's temptation!

Lead us not into temptation because we can find it ourselves and Satan will do anything to make temptations irresistible to us. He won't only lead us into temptation, he will show us a shortcut! Temptations never originate with God. When we are tempted, God wants us to find Him sufficient. Matthew 26: 41, "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

When a temptation becomes a thought we better take note. Sin has not taken place but if we start to entertain the thought it will take root. Then our imagination will answer the door thinking of all the pleasures! Matthew 5: 28, "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." At this point sin has occurred.

All temptations can be overcome by God! 1 Corinthians 10: 13, "...God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." The more in tune we are with God the more we will hear His voice over the enemy's! Prayer makes temptation weaker." Temptation is a dangerous thing. Neal A. Maxwell said, "If we entertain temptations, soon they will be entertaining us."
