You Have A Great Body!

There are several times in my life when I felt I got a "crash course" in spirituality. Those were the times when I felt closest to God. You know the saying, He did not move - you did. During these times I chose to spend more time with Him for different reasons - maybe I needed him more, maybe I was scared, maybe I was grieving, etc. But when I was pregnant I got crash courses because I was grateful and so "in tune" to the miracle happening in my body. This continued through the birth and nursing. I would always think - how could anyone not believe in God after they or their wife had a baby?

I was at an appointment the other day and retrovirus was being explained to me. This is what I heard, "#$#^%&*(*)()_+_)(*&&^%#." I did not get it so she broke it down again. Our bodies immune system is made to fight foreign objects. Certain immune signals are turned off in the mother's part of the placenta to keep her body from attacking the baby. I have thought so much about that. How great is our body made! Psalm 100: 3, "Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture." And no, I am not pregnant! That would definitely be a blog and a miracle!

It seems I have heard a lot of complaining lately about getting older. Aches and pains, etc. I think we need to spend just as much time thinking about how great our bodies are. There are still a lot of working parts or you would not be here! Incredible work is taking place inside you right now! And it all works together so well that it is almost impossible to comprehend!

Just three months into the pregnancy, an unborn child already has fingerprints. Those fingerprints will never change! And your fingerprints are your own unique bar code indicating the true miracle you are! Jeremiah 1: 5, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations."

Every four days your stomach gets a brand new lining! Strong digestive acids can compromise the walls of the stomach so they are replaced before that can happen.

Your liver works hard at over 400 functions, including detoxification, protein synthesis, and the production of biochemicals necessary for digestion. You could have two-thirds of your liver removed and it would grow back to its original size in four weeks time.

Our eyes can distinguish up to one million color surfaces and take in more information than the largest telescope known to man. People blink once every four seconds letting our eyelashes act as windshield wipers.

The human heart pumps 6 quarts of blood, circulating three times every minute. In one day, your blood travels a total of 12,000 miles.

The brain can hold five times as much information as the Encyclopedia Britannica. Nerve impulses travel at 170 miles per hour. The brain is comprised of 80% water. It does all this on the same amount of power as a 10-watt light bulb.

Your body is made up of approximately 100 trillion cells. They all came from the division of one single cell. 300 million cells die every minute, but it’s really just a small fraction of the number we have. We produce 300 billion new cells every day and your body is constantly repairing and rebuilding.

Psalm 139: 13-18, "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! ..."

We are so loved and have been since before we were made. He made each one of us and made us each special. We are His children. We are to praise Him! "Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture." Our Creator is due complete and utter devotion and obedience from us. Why? Because He is God and He created us.

God calls Himself, the Good Shepherd. He is a perfect Shepherd who extends His grace for you and me today. Shepherds were hardworking and their sheep got to know their voices. John 10:27, "'My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish;no one will snatch them out of my hand.'"

Are we living our lives as if we created ourselves?
