You Don't Have To Prove Yourself

Writer: Jill Jarrell NewsomeJill Jarrell Newsome

It hit me that I was trying to prove myself to two people. I told my husband he was one of them and I told him why. I felt the other person didn't think I was "good enough". As I was walking by the tv I heard what I needed. "If you think all your friends, your family, your coworkers, your enemies are going to cheer you on, you are wrong."

We shouldn't care what a naysayer says. We shouldn't get mad. Just forgive and move forward. Some people may not see what God's plan is and what He put inside of us. God put something there because He knew. God didn't need anyone else's opinions when He made decisions for our lives. Others weren't there when God formed us. They weren't there when God anointed us. They weren't there when God crowned us with His favor.

When the enemy attacks, Scripture says that God will put up a barrier. Isaiah 59: 19, "When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise up a barrier." We won't let them discourage us because God will give us power. Be confident in who God made you to be. Hosea 11: 4, "Find your worth in his words. His word is the truth. See yourself the way he sees you. In Christ, he sees you as blameless, as precious, and valuable." If He brought you to it, He will bring you through it. Claim it! You are not free until you have nothing to prove.
