I was reading Psalm 31: 14 - 17, "But I trust in you, Lord; I say, 'You are my God.' My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me. Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love. Let me not be put to shame, Lord, for I have cried out to you; but let the wicked be put to shame and be silent in the realm of the dead.'"
I had read a devotional about waiting on God and how it does not come easy but it is good for us. We want to make plans and we want to make things happen. I believe there is a time for that but I also believe there is a time for us to sit still, in our Father's Presence and trust Him. There is a lot of hard stuff to do in that last sentence but if we do there will be an unbelievable amount of blessings coming or way. Proverbs 3: 5, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;" Even though we do not understand what is going on, we can trust God.
I was reminded that all of God's goodness doesn't always come for us today. Some things come today and some wait for the future. I read somewhere that when we wait we are building up equity in those future blessings! Waiting on God keeps us looking to Him for hope. Waiting on God keeps us trusting in Him. Psalm 143: 18, "Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life." We are acknowledging that He is in control.
Like me, you may not understand why we have to wait so long for some things but we can have peace when we trust knowing His timing is perfect. Isaiah 30: 18, "Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!"
