You Are Here In The Midst

Writer: Jill Jarrell NewsomeJill Jarrell Newsome

Sunday at church we opened with the song, “Way Maker”. The words absolutely came to life…..” You are here moving in our midst. I worship you, I worship you! You are here working in this place. I worship you!” I feel the power of the Holy Spirit in that gym every Sunday but this Sunday it was extra powerful. People were clapping during the first song. Not to the beat but in praise! Webster’s says that worship is to honor or show reverence for a divine being or supernatural power. People were definitely honoring God this morning!

When we left my husband said, “I think the service was intense today. It seemed everyone in that building was touched by the service!” We talked about how it seemed to have gone to a whole new level. So many people were touched by the Holy Spirit! I know we have been in prayer for the upcoming revival and the Holy Spirit is feeling welcomed! He is being praised! God was moving in our midst and we also know He is working in this place! Hearts are being changed and mended. Psalm 147: 3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." People are being made new! I cannot imagine what revival will be like because people keep saying it feels like it has already started! I agree!

Jesus made his disciples a promise about the Holy Spirit. He said that He would return to Heaven but He would give them the Spirit to live inside them. So they would not have Jesus beside them but they would have the Holy Spirit inside them! John 16: 7, "But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.“ The Advocate is God’s Spirit - the Holy Spirit!

There are times, like this morning at church, that we are overwhelmed by the presence and the power of the Spirit. It can be an emotional experience, a joy, a peace, a presence like no other. We are being blessed by God’s grace!

We all need revival. In the Bible, revival is when God’s people realize their need to be spiritually restored and revitalized in their walk with Jesus. Psalm 85: 6, "Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?" Psalm 119: 25, "I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word." Psalm 119: 50, "My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life." God knew we would need revival. I do not think I have ever been this excited about a revival.

I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and attend a revival.
