Who Said That?!

Ever wonder how that ugly voice in your head knows what things to say to make you hurt, mad, fear, doubt, etc? These thoughts are not of God because He doesn't tear us down.

Satan can not read our thoughts but has had lots of practice at predicting human behavior through the years. He can anticipate what we might do without knowing our thoughts. I have decided that when I complain, over and over, about a certain thing, then he hears me and I am giving him more ammunition against me.


We need to stop and decide if this voice is of God or not. We need to know who is talking to us so we can know who to listen to! Philippians 4: 8-9, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."


Satan is not weak and insignificant. The Bible compares him to a roaring lion. 1 Peter 5: 8, "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." But we are not helpless against him — if we belong to Christ. The closer we are to God, the further we are from the devil. Who are you listening to?
