Last weekend I was blessed to work at a women's retreat again. I always say, it could not have come at a better time. I think there are times we need to dig a little deeper with our relationship with Christ. I need to all the time but life gets in the way. This retreat is something I have made commitments to for the past 25 years. If I make a commitment to go, I give it my all. It is hard to take three full Saturdays but that is my priority when I make that commitment. We train by spending that time with God, bonding as a team and encouraging each other.
When we commit our plans to God, we see Him there. A commitment is the decision to go forward, to hang in there when it's not easy. Commitment is the decision to stand by someone when you want to walk. The one most people probably struggle with the most is doing what you say you will do. Decide to commit and keep your commitments so that when challenges arise, you will continue, without hesitation.
Commitment is never to be postponed for convenience or pleasure. We will reap blessings when we keep our commitments to God. Proverbs 11: 3, "The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity." If you have made a commitment that you are not keeping, read Ecclesiastes 5: 4-5. "When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it.”
