Opie Taylor was talking to his father, Sheriff Andy Taylor and asked, “Pa, when is Jesus comin’ back?” His dad replied, “I don’t rightly know Ope. Ya see, we’re not on the planning committee. We’re on the welcomin committee.”
As Christians, we have been given a job. These were the last words Jesus spoke to His disciples before He left them and ascended back into heaven. We call these words “The Great Commission.” Matthew 29: 19-20, "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."
When we share our Christian faith with someone, we have the opportunity to bring them to Jesus. It is a privilege to be an instrument of God to potentially deliver someone out of the darkness of hell. And we get to bring them to His glorious light, if they believe our testimony.
“The only thing you can take out of this life are the souls that you bring to Jesus.” Apostle Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 2: 19-20, "For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy." We all need to join the welcomin' committee!
“Death is just a change of address. What you believe determines what neighborhood you end up in.”
