When God Calls

"God's calling requires action. When God calls you, he calls collect...you better be willing to accept the charges of your calling." I saw this quote and thought of the many times that God has called me to do something that I, hands down, do not want to do! Fast forward through the fussing, complaining, whining and wrestling and I was glad I stepped out on faith and was obedient! No wonder He calls us children, we act like little children!

Sometimes God calls us to do something that is not very exciting or glamorous. For those who like to be in the limelight they may be called behind the scenes. For those who like to be behind the scenes they may be called to be in the limelight! In other words, we may be called out of our comfort zones. God is not asking what we think about the assignment but asking us to do the assignment. God calls us to be exactly who He made us to be. When He knit us together in our mother's womb, He knew what He would ask of us. Psalm 139: 13-16, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

God has already given us the gifts and talents we need to do what we are called to do. 1 Peter 4: 10, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms." We do not have to tell God what our weaknesses are because He already knows our weaknesses and our limitations. We just have to be obedient because God can do the rest. I have seen God do the impossible! God is aware of your weaknesses and limitations be they physical, emotional, financial or whatever they may be. Yes, God has called you, because he knows that your unique combination of strengths and weakness are exactly what is required to do what you are called to do right where you are! Numbers 23: 19, "God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?" Nothing, nothing, nothing is impossible with God. Luke 1: 37, "For with God nothing will be impossible."

Have you ever thought of how awesome it is the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Your Savior, The Creator of the universe, has asked YOU to help further His Kingdom? This is a privilege that you get to do something for Him! When God created you, He knew that the world needed you today with your gifts and your skills. He has been preparing you for this very moment! Hebrews 12: 1-3, "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

"The miracle is this - everything you think you lack is in you now."

Is God calling you?
