"At the end of life, what really matters is not what we bought, but what we built; not what we got, but what we shared; not our competence, but our character; and not our success, but our significance. Live a life that matters. Live a life of love." A legacy is what you leave behind. It is what people will remember about you after you have gone. What legacy will you leave?
I do not want to have any regrets on my death bed. When I was sick and not sure if I had much time left I had one thing that kept coming to mind. I have not done enough for God! That moment I decided that with whatever time I had left, I would work more for God. What we truly believe is on display in how we live our life on a daily basis – whether at work, home, the beach, the grocery store or church. That is a lot to think about!
Psalm 112: 1-4, "Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever. Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous." Proverbs 10:7, “Good people are remembered long after they are gone; but the wicked are soon forgotten."
To leave a godly legacy, we must focus on living life God’s way. How we live and our choices we make today affect those around us. Proverbs 22: 1 says “a good reputation and respect are worth much more than silver and gold." “The test of your leadership is not while you are living. It comes after you are gone. Then what will people do with what you gave them?”
