What If's

Years ago someone shared with me how they came up on a wreck and knew the driver (alone) was dying. After hearing that story I really thought about what I would do. What is most important is that that person knows Jesus and is going to Heaven. I hope I never turn my back when I need to pray, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. 1 Peter 3: 15, "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."
I have been called to pray with my Dad and Mike's dad as they passed. Recently I was asked to call and pray over the phone with someone who was dying and they were not sure if their family member was going to Heaven. What a huge burden for a loved one to have. When the family member reached out I was put on speaker since the whole family was gathered. I made it about me - what if I cry? What if I say the wrong thing? What if he is a Christian? What if he is not a Christian? Those what if's are no good. What if I didn't do it?
I prayed first for God to empty me of myself and fill me with the Holy Spirit and He did. Luke 12: 12, "for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say." I remember the words just flowing and yes I was choking back tears but that was ok. This was big stuff. Although I have never met the entire family, I will always feel a bond with them. We were on sacred ground together. This person had been given days but died that night and the family was at peace. Thanks be to God! God keeps showing me not to put things off!
