I remember being a stay at home mom of two little girls and feeling like no one knew what all I did. Sometimes Mike would come home and asked what I did all day. Not in a negative way but I took it defensively. I worked so hard but I know it was not like a "real job" as some people might have called it. When my second child was born, for a short while Mike worked nights in management at UPS and slept during the day. I had a two year old and a new born that I nursed. Men did not get maternity leave then! In fact Mike was back at work the day after she was born. Now I can laugh about it because it was the most important job and I loved it! It was not always easy, in the beginning, for me to be home, but we made it work. Mike refers back to those days and always recognizes how hard it was on me. What is funny is how all I remember are the good times. I remember being tired but it was a good tired. Sometimes being a parent can feel like a thankless job.
"Have you ever stopped and wondered what God has done in your life that you aren't aware of? I often wonder when sitting in traffic if He is keeping me from a wreck. Wonder if He has healed me before I have gotten sick again? I ask Him to do the same with my family. God has protected me from so many things. Some I know of immediately. Some of the things I see when I look back and reflect. I cannot imagine how many times He has protected, healed, rescued, etc. me that I am not even aware of. Now, I thank Him for watching over me, even when I don't even know it!
We have so much to thank Him for! He knows us by name. Isaiah 43: 1, "But now, this is what the Lord says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: 'Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.'" He thinks about us. Psalm 139: 17, "How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!" He is our refuge. Psalm 62: 6-8, "Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge." He has plans for us. Jeremiah 29: 11, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." He will fight for us. Exodus 14: 14, "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” And the best, He is always with us! Matthew 28: 20, "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
"While it looks like things are out of control, behind the scenes there is a God who hasn't surrendered His authority!"
What has God done for you today?
