We went whale watching today and the weather was beautiful but we did not have the experience we had last time. Whale watching was a spiritual experience for me. To see a fish the size of a school bus is amazing but to watch them eat was awesome. Blue whales feed by taking huge mouthfuls of water and food. They push the water back out using their baleen plates as a strainer, keeping the food in their mouths. When I witnessed them use bubble trapping to capture their prey. The whales blow out bubbles that look like a chain link fence as far down as I could see. They eat about 4000 pounds a day!
I thought about the children of Israel wandering in the wilderness. They were not supposed to take any more than a single day's portion of food, and if they did, it would rot immediately. They had no "left overs"! They had to have faith in what they did not see and trust God would provide. Their Heavenly Father, their Great Provider, would supply what they needed for nourishment. Mark 10: 36, "'What do you want me to do for you?' he asked." He just wants us to trust HIm.
Matthew 6: 25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?" I think it is human nature to look ahead and worry about the mountains we face and the trials coming toward us. Things seem overwhelmingly impossible to manage and then God shows up! He shows up with manna and tells us to trust Him. He will be with us again tomorrow and he will handle tomorrow then! If God provides 4000 pounds of food a day for one whale He will surely provide for His children!
