Wait, Don't Force

We cannot force things when we are in a season of waiting. In God's perfect timing, He will show off with something so much better than we imagined. I look back at things He has done in the past and how we laughed at how over the top things turned out! When we force things that is of our flesh and it is like trying to force a piece of a puzzle where it does not belong. When we trust God for His perfect timing it takes all of the stress out of things. This is a hard thing. I have learned that God makes things happen at the right time, in the right way.

Sarah and Abraham wanted a baby but had not had any children. God told them they would have one but they got tired of waiting. They forced the issue by Sarah telling Abraham to let her slave-girl, Hagar, give him a baby. At 86 years old Abraham became the father of Ishmael, born of Hagar. This caused many problems in his marriage. When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, "As for me, this is my covenant with you; you shall be the ancestor of a multitude of nations...(referring to Sarah) I will bless her, and moreover, I will give you a son by her." At 90, Sarah laughed in unbelief that she would have a child. Abraham was hundred years old when his son Isaac was born. Isaac meant "he laughs". Genesis 21: 6, "Sarah said, 'God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.'”

Now we know how the story ended so we know God had a much bigger plan than they did. Sarah gave birth to nations! She laughed at the thought of having a baby at an old age. We forget God can do the impossible even though we know the rest of the story and have the Bible! Matthew 19: 26, "Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'” God did the impossible and so much more - made Abraham the father of nations! Ephesians 3: 20, "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us." Trust God!
