Time To Break Bread

I often have lunch with someone when I am getting their story. There is a huge difference in them sitting across from my desk answering questions versus sharing a meal. When you share a meal you get to know someone better. While learning more about this person I can sense their passions. There are no right and wrong answers just chatting with a friend. There is something special about sharing a meal together.
Dining with someone may not have the significance today that it did in Jesus' time but if Jesus thought sharing a meal together was powerful maybe we should too! We are blessed with grace and fellowship when we take the time to share a meal with someone. Mother Teresa said, "There are many in the world dying for a piece of bread, but there are many more dying for a little love." Think of your relatives, coworkers, church small groups, neighbors, etc. Matthew 25: 35, "...for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;.." Breaking bread together is an opportunity for nourishment on so many levels.
Acts 2: 46, “Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts…” I love that - with glad and sincere hearts! We should be doing this with our families and our church family, showing love, interest and support to each other! Breaking bread together transforms strangers into friends!
