I am getting ready to "unplug" til Sunday evening so I am sending Fridays blog now.
After someone coming in the consultation room to check on me every few minutes, finally the first surgeon came in. She told me that had put chest tubes in Sarah for both of her lungs. Her blood pressure was stabilizing and she was breathing. I kept asking why and could get no answers. I was scared, relieved, grateful, confused and anxious.
Derek came and asked if I wanted to go see my girl and I fell apart. I fell into Derek's arms and cried tears of relief and he just hugged me back. When I could finally talk I told him my prayers about the Holy Spirit blowing in that room and they would all know God was in control and performed a miracle. He looked at me so funny and said, "Oh, we know God was in there! It was so traumatic but He was in charge. God answered your prayers."
I was getting texts from people that I did not know knew. I have thought about how God heard from people He probably never hears from. So many people praying on Sarah's behalf! My pastor texted for anyone on campus to come to the office to pray for Sarah. All of these prayers are another part of the good that comes out of bad things. Romans 8: 28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." The nurses told me to touch Sarah and talk to her even though she seemed non-responsive. I thanked God for healing her and did not cry which was another answered prayer. I had plenty off time for that the next week when I was home and alone.
A year later and I am still amazed at all that God did. The peace He gave me! Philippians 4: 7, "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." During the NFL players injury and miracle recovery I am reminded, again, of how God can bring good from bad things for those who love Him. Romans 8: 28,
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." When we are intentional to look back at circumstances we see how God was working, even when we didn't see it or feel it! That is amazing grace!
