When I was little I remember seeing people's living room furniture covered in plastic. And their lampshades still had the plastic on them! Even as a little girl it never made sense to me, you still had to dust the plastic! Until a few years ago, I never used my china except for special occasions.
You probably know people who are going to enjoy life when....they get married, quit work, have children, their children grow up, they retire, etc. God wants us to enjoy life now...not "when"! John 10:10, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." God wants us to live our life with abundant joy!
We find ourselves looking to "get through" something; next week; this job, etc. When we live like this we are missing what God has planned for the present. James 4: 13-14, "Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."
Psalm 118: 24, "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." (ESV)
Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Today is a gift and a special occasion! Celebrate today and enjoy life!
