Mom, a friend of mine and I were talking and Mom mentioned not liking to drive after dark. My friend said her father didn't either and that he tries to route out where he is going making all right turns. We all laughed but later I thought about it again. There are lessons to be learned from that and a blog to be written!
There are two lessons that I will share from this. One is wouldn't we all be better off if we start with a route. God has a plan for our life so why shouldn't we try to follow that. We should try to line our plan up with God's plan for us. Jeremiah 29: 11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
We’re all moving parts of God’s kingdom, bringing glory to Him through all we do. Full functioning in God’s plan feels like a personal conversation. He is faithful to lead us when we ask Him for direction. God’s plan for our lives is rooted in working hard with the gifts and talents He’s given us in order to meet the needs in our community and around the world. God will meet us where we are, and place people purposefully to guide us.
These Scriptures will help us remember that God has a plan for us. Proverbs 3: 5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” The One who formed us has a plan for us and it will be a great plan! Proverbs 16: 9, "A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps." Matthew 6: 33, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." You have to have a relationship with God first to find God's will for your life.
The second thing I thought about was always trying to do the right thing! Proverbs 1: 1-3, "God desires for us to have not only spiritual maturity and wisdom but also wisdom that relates to making decisions in this life." We need to decide today that we are going to make the choice to do the right thing! If we go ahead and train our minds to do the right things then when a temptations comes we will be more prone to do the right thing. If we have asked God to help us, He will always give us a way out! God will empower you to do the right thing! Proverbs 5: 1-2, "My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding, That you may preserve discretion, And your lips may keep knowledge."
We are given a warning to do the right thing. James 4: 17, "So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin." As Christians we try to do the right thing but sometimes we fail. When that happens, we should quickly repent and turn to God who is calling us back into a right relationship with Him.
Every day we make numerous decisions on what to do, what to say and where to go. God will give us discernment for every decision! Commit these issues to God and He will guide you. If you seek Him, He promises to direct your steps. As Christians we want to live our lives pleasing to God. We want to do His will in our lives. Deuteronomy 6: 18, "Do what is right and good in the LORD's sight, so that it may go well with you and you may go in and take over the good land the LORD promised on oath to your ancestors,"
