The Pharmasea

Mike and I had gone for a walk one evening and the bugs had a feast on my feet and ankles and I had on tennis shoes! I had whelps and they itched for days. We ended up going to stay at the beach for four days and I mentioned that the salt water would cure my feet. Sure enough after one day in the ocean the itching stopped. Mike laughed and called me, "Charles", that was my Dad and he believed salt water cures most anything, I have to agree! Physical or emotional!


Any time I go to the salt water I am refreshed and renewed. The ocean can be treacherous but it also reminds me of God. The ocean reminds me of God's character and creation. It is a source of life, strength and calm. I think of the ebb and flow of the waves as God calling me back to Him, over and over.


If we want God, we must submerge ourselves in His Presence and commit to Him. Like the ocean, He will fill every empty space in our heart. We will be consumed with Him and try to follow His will, not because He forces us but because we want to be in His love. 1 John 1: 9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." Like the ocean, God comforts me and renews me. Like the ebb and flow of the waves, I will mess up, I will miss chances, I will sin but God will send another wave of love and grace to carry me. Lamentations 3: 22-23, "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
