I heard someone say if he was the devil he would put an end to families gathering at the dinner table. He went on to say that the devil has made families too busy to eat dinner together. Many kids are in so many activities “to keep them out of trouble” and yet when research was done, he learned there is much power at the family dinner table. The benefits of the family table include: better academic scores, better self esteem, lower substance abuse use, lower likelihood of eating disorder and lower depression. He challenged us to surrender our tables to Jesus Christ so we may see souls saved and lives transformed. We should pray that the tables of our home truly know, love and adore Jesus!

To sit at someone’s table is to occupy a sacred space where the people they love the most have sat. Meals have been shared and stories told. We have shared laughter and tears. We remember where we have been and share where we dream to go. We have prayed and shared God’s grace and goodness. It has been a place of connection, brokenness and blessings.

Matthew 26: 26-27, “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take and eat; this is my body.’ Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you.’” We are all invited to the Lord’s table, our family table. It is the ultimate place of connection, brokenness and blessings and a whole lot of grace!

"A strong family has well worn seats at the dinner table."
