The Great Wait

Mike and I were talking about being in a season of waiting...for lots of things. He was mentioning how frustrating he gets waiting. I was beginning to join him in the negative thoughts but instead we (finally) went to God's Word. I began to list some of the issues we had waited on in the past and how faithful God was to work those out...sending us things better than we could imagine. We both began to feel His peace and we both realized how many things we need to praise Him for! We replaced our grumbling with praising!

Maybe you are in a similar situation, waiting for something and it is taking longer than you expected. We are not alone - look at Scripture. Paul waited in prison! Noah waited for the rain, Daniel waited through the night in the lion's den! Abraham and Sarah waited 25 years for the arrival of their promised son. Joseph waited 13 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Moses waited 40 years to be called by God. Why do I think God will not make me wait? God wastes nothing! He is working on us during our waiting season.

While these people waited they were in the present. Paul began his ministry right where he was. While waiting for the rain, Noah built the arc! Daniel remained faithful in prayer. Joseph kept his focus on God and did his best with each task he was given. As situations began to turn around they were ready because they had not wasted their time. We can trust to see God reveal Himself along the journey. Psalm 27: 14, "Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!" I believe God is just as faithful in the waiting season as the sending season. Philippians 4: 11, "For I (Paul) have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.”(ESV).This may be your great wait! "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us." Ephesians 3: 20
