The Angry Ocean 3/4

Writer: Jill Jarrell NewsomeJill Jarrell Newsome

Don mentioned going to church with us and we told him we would love that. Even the night before he said he would go. I know it is hard to go somewhere new so I offered for us to go together and sit together, wherever he was comfortable. He never showed but when we called to check on him he said they had gone to a small beach service and loved it.

The following week while watching, "The Chosen" with Josie, Don heard Jesus speak to him and call him Don! Isaiah 43: 1, “...Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” He was so overwhelmed that he had to go lay down. Josie said she didn’t know why but she took a picture of him lying on the bed. She would later show me the picture and there appears to be a “spirit” hovering over Don! We all agreed - The Holy Spirit! The following Sunday Don decided to be baptized at the beach. A stranger took pictures, steadily, the whole time they were in the water. I cannot do this justice but in the beginning pictures the ocean looked like a lake. Once Don got in the water the ocean got angry and knocked all three of them down. They had to go to knee deep water and still two got knocked down! They got in ankle deep water and the pictures show the water splashing them in the face! Unbelievable. I have never seen ankle deep water splashing over your head! After the baptism, the pictures show the ocean like a lake again! Psalm 89: 9, “You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them.”

Don said he knew the devil was fighting hard for him. When they looked at the pictures they could not believe it. He said he knew Satan was trying to fight this but he was now a child of God! 1 John 3: 2, “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.”
