An "after party" is a party held after an event. My daughter told Mike on Friday that she wanted to surprise me Saturday afternoon/evening with a celebration for the birth of Hope in Him! Mike told her he thought I had some plans for a low key evening so he thought they should talk to me. My first thought, and remember my nickname is "fun girl" because I like to have fun, was I am going to be tired and don't want to dress up and go any where. But the more I thought about it, I changed my mind.
Discussing the day with my girls is great because that's how hearing becomes understanding. I want them to know how God worked during the hard times and how He is still working. How exciting that my girls knew that this was a big deal to their mom. How wonderful that a very sad, hard, scary time, in their life, is now bringing about celebration. How exciting that their mom, who has never wanted to be in the lime light, is stepping out in faith and doing what she feels called to do. How exciting that they see their mom going after a passion. How exciting that they heard all about their mom's Jesus! Deuteronomy 19, "Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
So I went home for a quick nap and then we went to the after party! I got to hear their thoughts, their questions, who they got to see and who all they met. We reminisced about some of those times. We laughed a whole lot! The day had already been wonderful but as always God always does extra. Ephesians 3: 20, "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us."
