Yesterday I heard the Hokey Pokey! Immediately I was back at the Sunset Skating rink with my family under the big disco ball! We would roll around on that old hardwood floor and I loved it when they would announce the Hokey Pokey! You probably know the words to the song using your head, arms legs and your whole self. I'll skip to the end of the song. "You
put your whole self in, you put your whole self out. You put your whole self in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around. That's what it's all about!" Today I saw a bumper sticker that said, "What if the Hokey Pokey IS what it's all about?" I thought really, you could not find a better bumper sticker than that? Then I could not believe I had seen or heard the Hokey Pokey two days in a row! And now there is a watch commercial that plays the Hokey Pokey! That's a blog! We all know the Hokey Pokey is not what it's all about but I do think they have some good lines!
It is all about Jesus Christ! 1 Timothy 2: 4, "...who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." And we are saved by believing that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. John 6: 29, "Jesus answered, 'The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.'" The gift is free - all we have to do is accept it.
We put our whole head in to this belief. Romans 12: 2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." We turn ourselves around. Job 37: 12, "It changes direction, turning around by His guidance, That it may do whatever He commands it on the face of the inhabited earth." Acts 3: 19, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,..."
Revelation 3: 15-16, "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth." Jesus wants all of us. Not just a few parts and pieces. We need to put our whole self in!
Matthew 6:33 tells us, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” God is first. He’s above everything. 2 Corinthians 12: 9, "My grace is sufficient for thee..." He is all we need. And this IS what it's all about!
Do you need to do some of the Hokey Pokey?
This is the second time today I’ve seen the “Lukewarm“ verse... hmmm, maybe a needed message. Hokey pokey on...❤️
