Thanksgiving

At Thanksgiving we often hear what people are grateful for. We commemorate the first meal celebrated by the Pilgrims and the Indians. I feel and believe Thanksgiving is a celebration of God’s blessings in our lives. The concept of Thanksgiving is throughout the Bible.

Not just about what we are thankful for. I am trying to make it about Him. Let’s bring Him our thank offerings. 2 Chronicles 29: 31 “...bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the Lord.” NKJV I am grateful to God for you!

Everything we have comes from God. Ecclesiastes 5: 19 says, “When God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work – this is a gift of God.” When we remember to thank God for our families, our home, our health and all of the things that make our life easier, we are able to enjoy them more.

God is our Provider. Our family says the blessing before every meal but we still take our food for granted. I am sure our food would be even better if we were grateful. There are many people who are hungry. He gives us what we need each day. "Lord, give us this day our daily bread." I ask Him to help me trust in His provision for each day. I do not need to stress and worry. Just trust.

Thank You, God, for everything You have done in my life. I know You are in control and therefore in everything I can give thanks!
