Take The First Step

I never thought about the fact that Noah had never seen or heard of rain and he still built the ark! That is obedience! Before God flooded the entire earth, he told Noah to build an ark to save himself, his family, and two of every kind of creature on the earth. Genesis 6: 13, "So God said to Noah, 'I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.'"


Sometimes I forget that I serve a God of miracles and impossibilities! Mark 10: 27, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." When I read all of the specifications God gave him for the ark I would have had a major meltdown and wrestled! Can you imagine the opposition Noah faced from family, friends and strangers? You know they thought he was crazy! Genesis 5: 32, "After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth." Genesis 7: 6, "Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth." This takes having kids late in life to another level!


God still performs miracles. We do not always understand Gods ways but, like Noah, we must trust Him. Isaiah 55: 8-9, "'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares the Lord. 'As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'" This flood seems harsh but God sees the bigger picture and has an eternal plan in mind.

God rewarded Noah's obedience and He rewards ours. Our answers, provision and hope is in Jesus! God is still able to do exceedingly abundantly above what we know, expect and even understand. Ephesians 3: 20-21 reminds us of this truth. He "is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” What is God nudging you to do?
