Survey The Road You Are On
The older I get the more important I think it is to survey the road you are on. We don't outgrow having to survey our road!! There is a lot of seduction out there! We have to have discernment if we are going to try to get where we need to be. Maybe there are places we need to stay away from. There are things we have to stop doing. Some relationships may not need to be deep friendships. We do not always understand but we have to trust God.
Philippians 1: 9-10, "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ." God warns us with a warning in our spirit when we need to make changes. I remember when my girls were teenagers and I would "get that feeling" and sure enough the Spirit would let me know I needed to intervene.
On this pilgrimage there is a lot of humility. Hebrews 12: 1-2, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith..." How can we do this? Our answer is in Psalm 84: 5-6, "Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools." When we go through the valleys, God will be there with springs of Living Water for us! We just have to keep saying, "I trust You, God!"
Are you seeing signs? Beware, yield, caution or stop? Survey the road you are on.
