Stop The Voices In My Head!

You are on your way to the store and you start hearing a voice in your head tell you how you should have stopped at your mom's. You needed to mail that card. It would be nice if you would take food to so and so. Don't forget you have a meeting tomorrow. Now you don't have enough time to get your list done today, etc. If those voices were in the passenger seat I am pretty sure you would not give them another ride! You may even slam on brakes and put them out!

Do you have these voices? Most of mine came at night if something was bothering me. I can snowball some issues in the dark!! It goes like this. I hand it over so I am able to go right to sleep. But when get up during the night, those voices creep in. No more sleep! It sounds crazy but I think most people have these voices.

I had a minister tell me that that is your "inner roommate." She told me that every time those voices sneak in I am to say, "God, I want you to take these thoughts. They are not of you. I can not handle this so please take it from me." I did this night and day for over two weeks and the voices stopped! As soon as the negative thought crept in I gave it to God! It was amazing! That was five years ago and I no longer have voices.

When I have negative thoughts it is usually because I have focused on what is bad. Apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 4: 8 "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." Scripture tells us when we align our thoughts with God's, His peace, which passes all understanding, will keep our hearts and mind through Jesus Christ!
