The other day I posted a picture of Masonboro Island on FaceBook and put, "Masonboro Allen here we come! Time to soak up the Son and get lots of vitamin G!" Because of the glare I did not see "allen" instead of "island" but it is my southern accent that does that! Most of you know I like to use "soaking up the Son" at the beach and recently I started using vitamin G. The beach is so much more than the sun for me. In fact, I usually sit in shade, wear lots of sunscreen, wear a hat, etc. For me, the beach is a time of peace, awe, joy, comfort and renewal. And while vitamin D comes from the sun and makes us feel better, I like to call that time with God vitamin G! Just like a definition of supplement is "something that completes" we are only complete with Jesus Christ in our life!

I think the beach makes me feel peace because I am sitting quiet in God's creation. I am in awe at His wonders - the waves, the tides, the shells, the dolphin, the beautiful sunsets, the breeze, the cool water that will cool you off like nothing else on a scorching hot day! All of this reminds me of the comfort God gives me when I am still and quiet. And at the end of a day like that who does not have joy? You have had a dose of vitamin G!

Since I have never heard of vitamin G I decided I better make sure there is not a vitamin G. Here is what I found on the internet: "Have you heard of Vitamin G? It’s been called “the most important health discovery”, yet most people don’t know about it. It’s NOT a nutrient found in food, drinking water, sunshine, or pills. It IS freely available for no cost, has zero side effects, and no chance of overdose. AND it boasts an impressive list of health benefits from reducing chronic inflammation to boosting your emotional well-being. so, what is this mysterious 'new' vitamin and how can you get your hands on it? The 'g' in vitamin G stands for 'grounding', and you get it from walking around outside barefoot—also known as 'earthing'." The beginning of the article sounded like a devotional to me, until I kept reading. You should google "earthing" - there are many health benefits.

My vitamin G is the most important health discovery! God can take our burdens from us which relieves us of stress causing us to be healthier. Psalm 55: 22, "Give your burdens to the Lord. He will carry them. He will not permit the godly to slip or fall." Jeremiah 30: 17, "I will give you back your health again and heal your wounds." This gift is freely given - Jesus paid the price. John 3: 16, "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." While there is no chance of overdose I do believe you can become overwhelmed from blessings! A good overdose!

I think there are many side effects boost your emotional well being. You will receive a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We can talk to Him any time of day or night about anything at all. He is always there, through thick and thin, and He is always able to help us. He will never leave us. Hebrews 13: 5, "...For God has said, “I will never, never fail you nor forsake you."

We receive the Holy Spirit. Since Jesus physically left the earth He gave us the Holy Spirit to live in our heart. The Holy Spirit guides us in all things. He is our conscious and shows us our sins. He shows us what to do to overcome them and gives us the power to do so. John 16: 13, " When the Holy Spirit, who is truth, comes, he shall guide you into all truth, for he will not be presenting his own ideas, but will be passing on to you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future." When we are weak the Holy Spirit strengthens us and intercedes for us when we do not even know what to pray for. Romans 8: 26, "And in the same way—by our faith—the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don’t even know what we should pray for nor how to pray as we should, but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words."

As we become freed from sin we become more and more transformed into the image of Jesus Christ. By the fruit of the Spirit we are more able to be loving, peaceful, joyful ins tead of selfish, proud, angry, or anxious. Galatians 5: 22, "But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness," Even when bad things happen we can have joy. 2 Corinthians 7: 4, "I have the highest confidence in you, and my pride in you is great. You have greatly encouraged me; you have made me so happy in spite of all my suffering." God only wants good for us. Jeremiah 29: 11, "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." And my favorite scripture reminds us that we do not have to worry and we can have peace. Romans 8: 28, "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." And He will give you rest! Matthew 11: 28-30, "Come to me and I will give you rest—all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke. Wear my yoke—for it fits perfectly—and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens."

Don't forget your vitamin G!!!
