Singing In The Rain

I did some research about birds singing in the rain. Most birds sing after a storm. Birds could just be happy to have survived the storm but rain brings worms to the surface and insects out to dry themselves, making it easy to get food. Usually small birds stay quiet and still to conserve body heat. When birds sing during the rain, it means that the rain is about to end.

We could learn a lot from the birds. Birds know good comes from storms. We want to avoid storms and we use up our energy trying to find shelter. Psalm 91: 4, "He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." I love that the small bird stays still. That is what we really need to remember during the storms. Psalm 46: 10, "Be still, and know that I am God." Look over the storms of your life and see where God was working. Romans 8: 28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." It is during the storms that we learn to lean on God. Isaiah 41: 10, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you..."

Birds know that the storm will end. Psalm 30: 5, "For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning." Small birds usually have their bodies upright with their beaks pointed upward. They are still, conserving energy and allow the rain to fall off of them. So when we are in the midst of a storm, we should look up and keep our focus on God. Colossians 3:2, "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

"When it rains, look for rainbows. When it's dark, look for stars."

My husband, Mike said, "there is no plan B." He had his mind set and would see it to fruition. He quickly added, "if that is what God wants". He was saying that if this was part of God's plan then he
