What a wonderful five days! A road/shopping trip with a college friend, best of friends from college in town and we spent time on the water and went out to dinner. Friday night dinner with a high school friend who was in town for our reunion. Saturday our good friends, a friend of mine since 7th grade, came to stay with us for the reunion. We had time on the water, the reunion and time today. Each of these special times happened because of people making an effort and sacrifice. I am blessed that I have many high school and college friends that we get together! Our class reunion was a blast but it took effort and sacrifices to make it happen. Relationships are possible because a priority is made, even in the busyness of life.
The same is true with God! I certainly let the busyness of life get in the way. When I do make extra time for God, we always pick up where we left off! And He is always available! It is not about having time but MAKING time. I have to think about, on any given day, what I spend the majority of my time doing? Aside from our responsibilities, how much time is spent on social media, news, television? Even if we sacrifice ten minutes of that time, it would be more than we were giving! We can start out small and try to increase.
God knows our struggles each day and He wants to hear about our day. I find my day goes better if I begin it with Him. Whether it is quiet time, prayer time, a walk outside with Him or a devotion, my day is much better when I begin with Him. It makes Him my priority. I ask Him to take care of my day, to give me the strength I need to get through that day and to help me find my way in His will. The problems of the day never seem as bad when He's in charge.
Just like I treasure my time scheduled with friends, I treasure this time with God! It is the most important relationship we can have!
