I love this. You have all intentions of doing good and by evening you give in to temptation. It is so funny to me because it is so true.
We are all tempted by different things such as alcohol, impure thoughts or acts, greed, covetousness, criticism, gossip, bullying and the list goes on. Temptations pull us off the path of righteousness. 1 John 2: 16, "For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world." Lust of the flesh” includes sins such as sexual lust and greed. “Lust of the eyes” refers to our worldliness such as material possessions, beauty, and social status. “Pride of life” is our arrogance and self-sufficiency.
We can resist temptation with God's help. He always gives us an escape route! 1 Corinthians 10: 13, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will provide a way out so that you can endure it." That is wonderful news if we use it! When temptations come, ask God for strength—and also your escape route! Jesus was tempted in the wilderness and He defeated Satan every time by using scripture. James 4: 7-8, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded."
"When God delivers you from evil don't keep in touch with it."
