A friend in my small group shared that during COVID she recited Psalm 91 everyday and used her name in the verse. What a wonderful idea! That was certainly a 9-1-1 time for me - being isolated! Whatever trouble we face, God is our safe place! What a great way to keep yourself picked up. Please read the whole thing but I will concentrate on some of the verses.
Psalm 91: 1, "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty." To dwell means to "take up permanent residence in." That means we are to STAY in God's presence. If we do that we will "rest" in the "shadow of the Almighty!" In a shadow is a protected place. A shadow protects us from direct heat of the sun. It makes us feel better. Even in the heated times of life we do not walk alone and we have shelter with God! This whole chapter tells of God's greatness and faithfulness! He works on behalf of those who love Him! Great reminders that He faithfully works on behalf of those who love Him.
This world may seem dark but it has been dark since sin first entered the earth - from the enemy's lies. Don't listen to the lies, listen to God's promises of why we do not have to fear. Psalm 91: 14-16, "'Because he loves me,' says the Lord, 'I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.'" Try reading it aloud using your name!
