Once You Know, You Cannot Unknow

Sometimes the truth comes to light and we are not prepared for it. Sometimes it would be easier not to know but I am thankful when God protects us from being around darkness. Once we know something we can not unknow it!


Sometimes in life our eyes are opened to something that we know is not right. We have a choice to make and that is to accept the behavior or not. Sometimes it is easier to sweep it under the rug and pretend like it didn't happen. People stay in these situations for different reasons including financial, pride, fear, etc. When you know right from wrong and you allow this behavior you are an enabler. We enable a person when we allow their unhealthy behavior, defend them, make excuses for them, look the other way, cover for them or keep secrets for them. No matter how tempted you are to enable this behavior, God always provides an escape route. 1 Corinthians 10: 13, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."


If you are in an unhealthy relationship ask God to give you the strength to stand up for what is right. i It doesn't mean we don't care but we know we are not their Savior. They need Jesus. Even Jesus let people go their own way (free will) telling His disciples at one time to shake the dust off their sandals and move on. Matthew 10: 14, "If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet." Are you an enabler?
