I am so thankful for my birthday. As we get older, hopefully we are getting wiser! I am thankful for the wisdom God gives me. While we may not want our physical bodies to get old, we do want our spirits to mature and grow in the Lord. We want to grow in grace. Birthdays are a good time to let go of regrets of what we have or have not done. Instead look at what God is doing through us.
Psalm 139: 16-19 means a lot to me the more I think about it. I like to read it, specifically, for me. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book." How can we read this scripture and not know we are special?
Really, my birthday should be a day thanking God that He created me. That He healed me so that I can have this birthday. He has ordained my days and brought them to pass. He is the one who has used people to shape, guide and grow me. He has not wasted a thing. He has brought good from my mistakes, regrets, tough times, sickness, heartaches, etc. Romans 8: 28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." And He is not finished with me yet! I am excited, God, for what this next year brings! I know it will be better than anything I can imagine! Ephesians 3: 20, "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us."
My appreciation goes to God, the Creator of my life. His faithfulness is beyond belief! Tomorrow is proof that He has done me well!
