My Uncle Larry lived life to the full! He always made me laugh. He could tell joke after joke! He taught a friend of mine and I how to drive his old van, with gears on the column, in the pasture. Later he would teach my girls to drive stick shift, while in elementary school, in the pasture! When I was in college I would go see he and Granny (he lived with her) and he would take me out to the big city of Burlington to hear beach music and go shagging - a dance that was popular in this area. He always told me when I died he was going to put my ashes in a Maxwell House Coffee can and tell everyone I was good to the last drop! He lived life fully and enjoyed every single second of it!
In the Christian life, a life lived to the fullest is "a life that is characterized by being in relationship with Jesus, because he himself is the definition of life". John 14:6, "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
John 10:10, Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." An abundant life can be a long life or short. It is not free of hurt, heartaches or tragedy. In an abundant life we are content in knowing that God's grace is more than sufficient for our needs. It is a life of joy knowing that God is with us regardless of our circumstances are! It is a life knowing that He pours His favor on us!
"The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so long to begin it." WM Lewis
