There was a video on Facebook that my husband and our neighbor loved! Their new thing is to reply "B!" to any question or issue. This came from a Facebook video that they thought was hilarious at the beginning of the Corona Virus. A man is listening to someone say, "because of Corona Virus you are going to be quarantined. But you have a choice. Do you: A - quarantine with your wife and child? Or B" Interrupting, the man says, "B!" He said it to let you know there was no question. Obviously, he did not need to hear the rest of plan B. He was going with B!
If there were a plan B, God would not have sent Jesus to die for us, which was His plan A! If you want to be saved and have all your sins forgiven, there is only one way and that is Jesus! Jesus doesn’t say he’s a good way or a better way, He says, "I AM the way." John 14: 6, "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
Every day we have a choice to make: follow Christ or do things our way. God has a purpose and a plan for our life. Jeremiah 29: 11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." We are also told that the Lord will order and steps and delights in the details of our life! Think about that! The King of Kings delights in the details of my life! Psalm 37: 23, "The steps of a good man are [a]ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way." When we seek God for His will for our life we can have peace. And he gives the peace that passes all understanding. Philippians 4: 7, "and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Every choice we make has a consequence. Some are good consequences and some are bad. Our choices effect today and tomorrow and sometimes the rest of our life. It can effect those around us including our family and our children. Every day we are given the choice between life and death and blessings and curses. Deuteronomy 30: 19, "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.." Here even our descendants are listed.
So how do we know which path? Some are obvious and some we never think about but there are others that we need to seek God's help. Jeremiah 6:16 says, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.’” We are to choose the path to life. The choices we make are to be righteous, good, pure and of God. This path will bring His blessings, His will and His purpose. We can watch Him work and bring His plans for our life blossom!
When we make wrong choices, and we will, we are disobedient to God, they will bring the death process. Those choices bring darkness, pain, devastation, suffering, hurt and lasting consequences. Satan has a powerful and enticing plan for our life too and it can look good and fun but it WILL lead to destruction. We better strengthen our connection to the Holy Spirit to make sure we are being led by God and not the desires of the flesh. The good news is that it is never too late to choose life. Repent, which means to turn around and go the other way, and let God be your guide.
Not making a choice is still making a choice. Sitting on the fence or being lukewarm. What does God say about that? Revelation 3: 16, "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth." Apostle Paul says we better be prepared to make a choice! 1 Peter 3: 15, "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear..." When you live a life in communion with God, you will find your way in His way. He will protect you from wrong choices through the Holy Spirit.
God always gives His best to those who leave the choice with Him!
