Journey of Joy

Writer: Jill Jarrell NewsomeJill Jarrell Newsome

Someone asked me, "don't you think we deserve a break?" If only it worked that way! Mike and I leave a pity party and discuss how God has used things in the past. We are reminded of His faithfulness. We talk about how our faith grows during these tough times. On this journey called life, God is adding to our faith, circumstance by circumstance.

One of the hardest things we are learning is submitting to God no matter the challenge!

Many years ago, a friend taught me to pray for me to find my will in God's will and my way in God's way. Praying for God's will to be done and not mine is easier said than done, for me! However, in being obedient, and saying this over and over I think the words soak into my heart. Isaiah 55: 8-9, "'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares the Lord. 'As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'" Since His ways are much bigger than mine, I trust His plan is better than anything I can imagine. Ephesians 3: 20, "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us..."

I can look back on my life and it was during the tough times that God was preparing me for such a time as this. I am not sure what is next but I thank Him everyday for what He has planned. I am excited about it because I know it will be exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask! Thanks be to God!
