This may go down as one of the most special anniversaries. Mike had taken the day off and given me some options. I chose a boat day on the island. He took me to lunch by boat and then to the island for hours. Around six we went to dinner by boat and on the way home, while admiring the sunset, four dolphin put on a show for us. As Mike said, it was the perfect ending to a perfect day! Thank You, Jesus!
When I think of Jesus, I think He liked the simple things and often used them to illustrate messages. He used a little boy's lunch to make a big miracle. Luke 9: 10 "...'We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.' (About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, 'Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.' The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basket fulls of broken pieces that were left over." Jesus saw value in two coins that a widow had. Mark 12: 41-44, "Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, 'Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.'" A person is worth far more to God than the sparrow. Matthew 10:30-31, "And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."
I think what made today so special was the time spent and the sacrifice made for me. Family is one of the most satisfying things in my life. We cannot take possessions to heaven but we can take those we love. Our relationships can have an eternal impact! The older and wiser I get, I like to keep life simple because it is then that I am more in tune to God. It is then that I see miracles all around me! It is then that I have life to the full! John 10: 10, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
