"It's So Good, It's Almost Sinful"

While we were at the lake we frequented a wonderful bakery that had plate lunches. Mom was drinking their sweet tea and said, "this tea is so good it is almost sinful." We started laughing saying, "not sinful but almost"! She was justifying that good tea! In all fairness we all justified a lot of sweet stuff!

We also try to justify other sin in our life - that is human nature. We need to be careful when we fool around with sin because we may end up in the middle of it without even realizing it. I shared a story recently how sin is kind of like riding into fog and all of a sudden you don’t know where you are. Sin is straying away from God. When you are enticed by anything not holy or pure, pull away and pray that God will make you uncomfortable enough to thoroughly reject it. Recognize this temptation as a spiritual battle.

Our sins, no matter how big or small to us, can be forgiven. We must simply confess our sins, turn from them and ask for forgiveness. Psalm 32: 5, "Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.' And you forgave the guilt of my sin." We will never be sinless but we can sin less. Galatians 5: 24, "And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." The strength for our victory over sin is through Jesus. We’re to call Him when temptation comes. Be like the little girl who said when the devil comes knocking with a temptation, she sends Jesus to the door. What is knocking at our door?
