It's Raining, It's Pouring

"There is extensive scientific evidence that cloudy and rainy weather can have an impact on mood and mental wellbeing. Multiple studies have found correlations between decreased sunlight exposure, increased cloud cover and precipitation, and higher rates of depression, anxiety, and negative affect." Here is a different perspective when dealing with rain.
Rain is a metaphor for blessing in the Bible. Rain was synonymous with grace falling from the sky. For people living in that time and place, rain was a good thing. They partied when it rained because most lived in a dry and barren desert. I love the smell of rain and I love to sit on the porch and listen to it. I love to think about the rain watering and refreshing the ground. I am always amazed at the growth outside after God waters. I am also grateful for the reminder that I need shelter. Psalm 91: 1, "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty." God is my Shelter! I love to picture me safely in His arms with a giant umbrella of protection over me....rain or shine.
All of a sudden the sky doesn't seem so gray, the rain isn't so bad, even the wind doesn't bother us so much! Life is full of rainy days and storms and eventually the sun does come out. But God remains the same always. And just like those flowers that grow after He waters them, we grow in the rain! He wastes nothing, not even the storms of our life!
