It IS Good News

I had nightmares after visiting my friends church when I was young. I spent the night with her and we went to children's church is a big gymnasium. All I remember is they said if we didn't come down front right then and get saved and we got in a wreck on the way home, we would go to hell. I was petrified! I was so scared I prayed on the ride home and I told my mom I would not ever go back there. I still remember it!

I could not get out of there fast enough! Who wants to hear bad news? I was too scared to stay and talk about it. Who wants to share bad news? Not me! The Gospel is good news! It is the good news that Jesus Christ died, rose from the dead for our sins. It is natural to want to share good news, people even post it on social media for all the world to see! Engagements, weddings, pregnancies, birthdays, etc. Sharing what great things Jesus has done in your life certainly qualifies as good news! I am motivated by love so I cannot imagine sharing good news any other way!

Before we can tell others about the joy of being a Christian, we have to have experienced His joy. Before we can share the freedom Jesus gives, we have to know what it is to be freed from our past! We don't have to know the whole Bible. Just what Jesus has done in our life. When Jesus healed the man who was possessed by a legion of demons, he told him in Mark 5: 19, "“Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” He has done and is doing wonderful things in our lives!

We were commanded to go out and share the Good News. God will do the rest. 1 Corinthians 3: 6, "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow." We can plant and water but only God can make things grow!
