Is This Better or Is This Better?

At 30, I decided to have RK surgery on my eyes to correct my vision. It was a simple surgery and I was supposed to keep my eyes covered for a few hours but I had to peek on the way home. The first thing I noticed were the trees. I had been seeing trees as children draw them - a trunk with a circle on top, one blob. Today these trees had individual leaves! I could see a street sign before I drove past the street!

I recently heard a minister refer to an eye exam asking "is this better or is this better?" I had just been to the eye doctor and when he put the machine up to my eyes he asked, "is this better" and changed the lens and said, "or is this better?" When the lens were right I could see better. So it is when we see through the eyes of Jesus. Everything is better! I need God and I am thankful for His gift of salvation! No matter our successes or lack of, only He can satisfy us. Having a relationship with God gives us purpose, value and a family!

When we are in a relationship with God, our purpose is to spread the Good News! Matthew 4: 19, "'Come, follow me,' Jesus said, 'and I will send you out to fish for people.'" When we are in a relationship with God we know our value. We know who and Whose we are. Luke 12: 6-7, "Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." People strive to receive praise from their boss, cling to social media status or desperately seek attention in other relationships - all to feel worthy. A relationship with God gives us the confidence to know He made us and we are His beloved. And God puts us in His family with other sisters and brothers in Christ. Psalm 68: 6, "God sets the lonely in families..."

So I ask you, "is this better or is this better"?
