I remember growing up being so excited to go find a costume which came in a cardboard box with cellophane over the top, a mask and a one piece outfit! I could hardly get through supper, I was so excited. Dad took us trick or treating and I was glad because I was afraid of people dressed up. I liked to know who I was talking to. Thankfully, I have learned that God is bigger than all that and I don’t have to live in fear. Jesus says in John 12: 46, “I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.”
Matthew 6: 33-34, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” We all have a fear of something that can take over our thoughts such as our health, finances, job, failure, future, relationships, etc. We can be released from this fear when we hand those concerns to Jesus. Then He will give us His supernatural peace! Philippians 4: 5-7, "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
With Jesus, we know we can have hope for our future. Luke 25:25 says, “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?” Fear does nothing but hurt us but trusting Jesus gives us hope and enriches our lives! We can trust our Father! I love how the author of Psalm says, "I will not be afraid." Maybe we need to hear ourselves say this out loud. Psalm 118: 6, "The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
