"I've Been Healed!"

Writer: Jill Jarrell NewsomeJill Jarrell Newsome

I shared a blog last week of of emotional and spiritual healing that took place at our healing service during revival. This story is of physical and spiritual healing that someone shared with me. Prior to last year they had never been to a revival and never heard of a healing service. “That first dose of Pastor Andy, last year, was a game changer. God used a simple man and used him to turn a message into a life changing event.” Luke 4: 18, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor…”

I had been in pain with “frozen shoulder” which is common in diabetics. I could not lift my arm more than 45 degrees. I am not one to go to the Altar or to put myself in front of people. I believe the three days prior led me to walk up there Wednesday evening. It was not a “why not, it can’t hurt”, it was a “I have to.” The pastor shared her husband’s story about being healed from anxiety. I wasn’t just going for my shoulder but for all my pain, my life and my spirit. The healing was not immediate but I claimed healing and I had no doubt I would be healed. Exodus 15: 26, “...for I am the Lord, who heals you.” As they prayed I could feel the Spirit come through me. That is when the spiritual healing began. The next day I was healed when I lifted my arms above my head!

I thought people would think I was weak if I went to the Altar. Now I know it is a strength to go. God’s shoulders are a lot bigger than mine but it is still a work in progress for me to go to the Altar. Looking back at God’s faithfulness makes it a lot easier. “Put your fear and anxiety aside and know you are strong enough to make it to the Altar.” 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
