I Stayed In My Lane

My friend showed up at the pool again while I swam laps. As soon as she got in I asked God to help me stay focused on my goal - slow and steady for 45 minutes. Just because she got in the pool didn't make it a competition. I watched my lane line and kept talking to God. Before I knew it she was getting out and I had stayed in my lane and not even swerved! I know, now, God was teaching me a little lesson for later that day.

Once again, I was being God's helper and trying to make things happen. I quickly caught myself and surrendered, again, and stayed in my lane. Now every morning I ask God to help me stay in my lane today - not in His! I keep my eyes on the prize, knowing God is ahead! Hebrews 12: 1, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us."

I keep focused on Him and He will send everyone and everything I need at just the right time! He will help me navigate any turns, detours or obstacles. Even if I don't understand, I have to trust His timing! Proverbs 3: 5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
