"A pastor attended a men's breakfast in the middle of a rural farming area. The group has asked an older farmer, decked out in bib overalls, to say grace for the morning breakfast. 'Lord, I hate buttermilk,' the farmer began. The visiting pastor opened one eye to glance at the farmer and wonder where this was going. The farmer loudly proclaimed, 'Lord, I hate lard.' Now thee pastor was growing concerned. Without missing a beat, the farmer continued, 'And Lord, you know I don't much care for raw white flour.' The pastor once again opened an eye to glance around the room and saw that he wasn't the only one to feel uncomfortable. The the farmer added, 'But Lord, when you mix them all together and bake the, I do love warm fresh biscuits. So Lord, when things come up that we don't like, when life gets hard, when we don't understand what you're saying to us help us to just relax and wait until you are done mixing. It will probably be even better than biscuits. Amen." Unknown
I think we can all relate to this! It is easy to focus on what we don't like but if we know Who and Whose we are then we can change our focus to Him! God never wastes anything and He will use it for good for those who love Him. Romans 8: 28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." I think back on some tough times that I did not understand and I see all the blessings that came from it. After we go through that enough times, recognizing God's hand in it all, our faith grows as we see all the blessings.
When we finally get to our wit’s end, we'll find God there waiting on us, patiently. He wants us to trust Him with our present and our future. Remember, the will of God never takes you to where the grace of God can’t protect you. Proverbs 3: 5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." When we experience God's joy and peace, it will change the way we see the world around us. Even when we see a lot of darkness, we can focus on the Light of the World! John 8: 12, "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “' am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'” When we can do this, we can comfort others.
