I am Revived!

Writer: Jill Jarrell NewsomeJill Jarrell Newsome

Last week I was out of my comfort zone trying to tie up loose ends for the couple's retreat. Mike was too. I wanted him to have fun and be glad he did it. He has an amazing testimony that he has never shared, actually a couple of them! Satan was all over both of us! So many things went wrong. When we make intentional time for God, Satan always tries to stop it. Finally, I had to laugh it was so ridiculous! It has to be good if he's fighting this hard!

I needed a lot of "re's" - restore, reclaim, resolve, realign, reprioritize, return, relax, repent, reflect, rebuke, regain, refine and relief! A retreat moves us from our usual environment to a place where we can spend time with God, work things out, be still, worship, fellowship with other Christians and grow in our relationship with Him. We slow down so we can listen to God, we recognize His work in our lives and see where we need change.

This weekend we did those things and bonded with other Christian couples of all ages and stages while making new friends and renewing old friendships! This fellowship challenges us, encourages us, holds us accountable and helps us to be obedient to God and His Word! Hebrews 10: 24-25, "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." I am revived, thanks be to God!
