As I was thinking about my daughter, Sarah, coming home from Oregon, I was reminded of the excitement for homecoming's! When Granny's church had a reunion we went because Mom grew up in that church. Under the shade trees would be lots of long tables with home grown and home made food! The food was so good and the fellowship was wonderful!
Life can be tough and most of us find one place we can go for comfort, belonging and welcome and that is home. A big part of being home is being with those we love. John 14: 1-3, When Jesus' work on earth was nearing completion, He told His followers, “I’m going home to my Father now!” But,"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
That is going to be the best homecoming! This homecoming is only available through Jesus. John 14: 6, "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" Jesus promises to live with us forever! He is preparing a place for each one of us! We will be in our eternal home! And there will be more love than we can imagine and pure joy! Nothing we can imagine. Even Jesus calls it paradise!
